Jews of Color: Histories and Futures isÌýa three-year initiative, supported by aÌý, toÌýexploreÌýthe diverse traditions and experiences of Jews of Color in the United States in light of the complicated relationship that American Jewish communities have to white Christian supremacy and white privilege. Spearheaded by Samira K. Mehta (Associate Professor of Women and Gender Studies and Director of the Program in Jewish Studies), this groundbreaking partnership between the Program in Jewish Studies and University Libraries recovers, studies, and elevates the voices and experiences of Jews of color in the United States through four areas of activity:ÌýÌý

  • a working group of scholars, artists, and activists drawn from diverse communities

  • the first digital archive centering the experiences of Jews of Color, focused on oral histories and hosted by CU Boulder’s Innovations in Jewish Life Collections

  • public conversations on topics including Jews of Color, racism, white supremacy, and American Jewish life

  • publications, programs, and creative projects exploring these issues
