Christopher Pacheco is the Assistant Vice Chancellor of the Office of Precollege Outreach and Engagement. He is a first-generation college student from a family of ten children. He graduated from Battle Mountain High School in 1982, received his B.A. from CU Boulder in 1987 in Environmental, Population and Organismic Biology and went on to complete a Master’s Degree in Educational Foundations, Policy & Practice in 2016. His professional career has been dedicated to providing access to higher education for first-generation students and students from communities who are underrepresented in higher education. He began his career as the director of the Pre-Collegiate Development Program at the University of Colorado Boulder campus from 1987 until 1999. 

He served as Associate Director for Academic Enrichment Programs in CU Boulder’s Student Academic Services Center from 1999 until 2008. As the Asst. Vice Chancellor he supervises numerous pre-college outreach programs that provide services across Colorado and in a five-state region surrounding Colorado.  In addition, the Office of Precollege Outreach and Engagement conducts a Precollege Bridge Program that facilitates students' transition to and through CU Boulder in pursuit of a postsecondary credential.
