Safety Alert: CUPD investigating alleged aggravated assault near CU Boulder Space Science building
On Wednesday, July 1, 2020, at approximately 10:15 p.m., the CU Boulder Police Department (“CUPD”) was notified of an alleged aggravated assault.
The victim was driving west bound on near the CU Boulder Space Science building, located at 3665 Discovery Drive, when a person riding a bicycle east bound on Discovery Drive swerved to block the car’s path. The victim made several attempts to go around the suspect, but the suspect moved to continue to block the path of the vehicle. The suspect then pulled out a knife, verbally threatened the driver, and started striking the car with the knife, causing significant damage. The driver was finally able to maneuver around the suspect and leave the area. The suspect was last seen heading east on Discovery Drive.
The suspect is described as:
- White male with a thin build;
- About 6’ tall with darker, curly hair;
- He was wearing a dark shirt with a dark backpack, riding a dark-colored bicycle.
Just before CUPD received this call, the Boulder Police Department received a call of a person matching the description of the suspect assaulting someone along the Boulder Creek bike path.
