CORPS (Community Outreach and Relationships with Prospective Scholars) strives to raise awareness about the transformative opportunities within PLC. By forging long-lasting connections with schools, organizations, and teachers, we enhance the visibility and reach of PLC locally and nationally. We create applications to uncover each candidate's leadership potential and carefully review applications and conduct interviews to ensure fairness in representation. Our overarching goal is to create the most suitable cohort of students to date.ÌýÌý
History - CORPS evolved out of Recruitment & Selection in 2019. The R&S team has existed for decades. However, to try to increase PLC’s equity to access, diversity, and inclusivity, PLC changed the name of the team to emphasize the building of relationships over the previous process which had been historically whitewashed and along privileged lines of recruitment.Ìý
This team consists of 2-3 members and one returning member serving as the Director of CORPS. The team conducts intensive outreach in the fall to find students in all parts of Colorado and the country to apply for PLC. Email campaigns, remote and in-person workshops, presentations, shadowing hosts, and recruiting events are among the activities undertaken by the CORPS team. The CORPS team helps write the annual application, trains their peers to participate in ARC Day (application review day), and prepares questions and scoring rubrics for interview days. In March, CORPS will comprise one interview panel and conduct group interviews with all in-person applicants. Additionally, CORPS members will be present and integral on Selection Day, aiding in the selection of the incoming cohort. Pay rate = $3000/academic year

- On-campus relationship building to attract second-point-of-entry students
- Creating promotional materials for PLC
- Further developing PLC’s public reputation
- Application question creation and grading
- Interviews and cohort selection
- Collaboration with Bridge Team, Service Team, Lead Colorado
What you learn from the position
CORPS is one of the more rigorous student staff roles and requires continuous effort throughout the year. CORPS members should be outgoing and willing to speak at events and to prospective scholars, conscientious and willing to contribute to the role consistently throughout the year, and dedicated to furthering the future of our program and its values. That said, the CORPS team is an amazing opportunity to develop a wide range of skills in marketing, advertising, effective outreach, data analytics, public speaking, and broad-spectrum written and spoken communication. Above all, CORPS members should be willing to take the initiative to forge new connections and build the future of our program.
