Christmas French toast

Ingredients

  • 1 day old sliced French bread loafÌý
  • 3 beaten eggsÌý
  • 1 teaspoonÌývanillaÌý
  • 2 1/4 cupsÌýmilk

Topping

  • 1/2 cupÌýall purpose flour
  • 6 tablespoonÌýbrown sugar
  • 1/4 cupÌýbutter
  • 1/2 teaspoonÌýcinnamonÌý
  • 1 cupÌýFrozen blueberriesÌý
  • 1 cup Frozen strawberriesÌý
  • Or any frozen berries of your choice equaling 2 cups

Directions

  • Grease 9x13 baking dish.
  • In medium bowl combine, eggs, sugar, vanilla, and milk. Stir till well blended.
  • Dip bread in egg mixture and place in baking dish. Cut pieces to make them fit, does not need to be perfect!
  • Pour leftover egg mixture over the top. Cover with foil and refrigerate overnight.Ìý
  • In the morning, heat oven to 375°. In small bowl combine flower, brown sugar, and cinnamon.
  • Cut in butter with a pastry blender or 2 knives until mixture resembles course crumbs.
  • Sprinkle over bread.
  • Bake 30 minutes covered, and 10 more uncovered.Ìý
  • While that is cooking, heat the berries in a small saucepan on low to make fruit compote to serve atop baked French toast. Enjoy!
