Hi Buff families,ÌýÌý

I hope this message finds you and your Buff well. We have had an exceptional start to this school year, and it has been great to see that the energy and excitement has carried through to this midpoint in the semester. I have enjoyed meeting so many students over the past couple of months at football game day activities and various campus events—this community is truly special.ÌýÌý

Family Weekend is here and I am so excited to welcome you to campus to participate in this annual fall tradition. One event I hope you will attend is the Take Care Street Fair on Friday, Oct. 13 from 1-3 p.m. There will be a variety of activities to promote both physical and mental wellness. I also encourage you to try some of our extraordinary dining options on campus while you are here. With 15 locations, there is something for everyone to enjoy. The dining center in the Center for Community (C4C) offers cuisine from around the world. Options include eight micro-restaurants, a build-your-own salad/deli bar and a dessert station. I recommend trying the chocolate chip cookies or white chocolate macadamia cookies—they are my favorite!ÌýÌý

Whether your student is in their first or final year, visiting is an opportunity to view campus from their perspective, ask about classes and learn more about their life at CU Boulder beyond the classroom. Be sure to ask about what your Buff’s classes are like, where they like to eat and study on campus, and what they like to do outside of class.ÌýÌýÌý

There are certain activities and experiences exclusive to our campus. While you are here, you can visit our state-of-the-art Rec Center with views of the mountains, catch a show at the Fiske Planetarium or enjoy a game of bowling at The Connection. Fun fact—the only bowling alley in Boulder is right here on campus!ÌýÌý

In my opinion, CU Boulder is one of the most beautiful college campuses in the country, offering many gorgeous backgrounds for selfies and family photos. I recommend taking a photo with your student by one of our buffalo statues on campus. You can find one in front of Folsom Field, another buffalo in front of the CU Events Center and a third statue on the top-floor terrace of the Center for Academic Success and Engagement (CASE) building. If your student is in theirÌýfirst year, start a tradition by taking a photo this year and repeating each year of their journey until graduation.ÌýÌý

If you are not able to attend Family Weekend this year, I hope you have the opportunity to visit your student and explore campus with them soon. It is always a good time to check-in with your Buff and see how they are doing. The greatest tradition for many is seeing their student smile and growing right in front of your eyes. It only happens once!Ìý
