10 ways to celebrate spring in Boulder safely

Even though Colorado was just covered with lots of snow, we have officially 鈥渟prung鈥 our clocks ahead and spring is almost here! With the Spring Equinox starting on March 20, 2021, we know that warmer days are headed our way. With the additional daylight and the flowers starting to bloom on campus, we wanted to provide you with some ways to get outside and soak up the sunshine in Boulder in a safe way! Whether you send this list to your student, or you are in Boulder yourself, we hope you can take advantage of all a Boulder spring has to offer.听Here are 10 ways to celebrate spring in Boulder safely:

  1. Check out the . It officially opens April 3 and is an easy walk from campus.听
  2. Pack a picnic or take your grab and go dining hall food to a local .听
  3. Hammock in the trees around campus with a good book or with your speaker jamming to some music.听
  4. Smell the lilacs! There are lots of spring flowers blooming all over campus thanks to our wonderful facilities staff. On the south side of the Center For Community (C4C) you can find a row of lilacs lining the sidewalk.
  5. Admire the ducks and fish in Varsity Pond. You can stop and grab food from the many restaurants on and then enjoy them while overlooking the idyllic Varsity Pond.听
  6. If you are feeling really adventurous on a windy day, buy yourself a kite and fly it on Farrand Field! Frisbees, spikeball, and other yard games are also encouraged.听
  7. Have a sweet tooth? You scream, I scream, we all scream for ice cream! What says spring more than ice cream? Check out one of the many in Boulder.听
  8. Rent a bike for FREE using the and bike along the Boulder Creek. This is a great way to explore Boulder and soak in some sunshine and nature.听
  9. Walk Pearl Street! Between street performers and shops and eateries- you won鈥檛 be bored while exploring Pearl street. The are beautiful on Pearl Street this time of year.听
  10. Soak in nature and go for a hike at . Pick a trail that best suits your hiking needs from easy, moderate, to difficult using the maps and trail guides .听
