Free health and wellness services for students

It can be challenging for students to manage their mental and physical health in college. That’s why CU Boulder offers a number of health and wellness services to all-fee paying students. Here are just a few of our free programs that can help students improve their wellbeing here on campus:

Nutrition services

All students can meet with a registered dietitian nutritionist (RDN) for a free consultation. Meetings are available during designated drop-in hours at the Rec Center. During the consultation, our RDNs will answer questions and provide recommendations, resources and referrals as needed.

Â鶹ÒùÔº can also meet with a to help them navigate the dining centers and options on campus. Â鶹ÒùÔº can make an appointment to discuss nutrition and dietary needs, including allergies, athletic performance, weight management, energy and other concerns.

Workshops and groups

We offer a number of free workshops geared to improve students’ mental and emotional health through Counseling and Psychiatric Services (CAPS). Workshops meet every week and cover a variety of topics, including anxiety, positive changes, emotional regulation, relationships, sleep skills, body image and meditation. Â鶹ÒùÔº can also join skills-based therapy groups or process therapy groups. These groups cover a wide variety of topics, including grief, relationships, anxiety and identity.

Peer Wellness Coaching

Peer Wellness Coaching (PWC) is a free service available to students living in the residence halls and Bear Creek apartments. Trained peer wellness coaches are available for one-on-one meetings with students to help them set and achieve their wellness goals. PWC can be a great option for students looking to optimize their personal health and wellness or make meaningful changes in their lives.

Mental health consultations

Counseling and Psychiatric Services (CAPS) provides free drop-in hours for students on campus. Â鶹ÒùÔº can meet with a professional counselor to create a personalized care plan specific to their needs or receive recommendations and referrals for ongoing care in the community if needed.

In addition to drop-in hours, CAPS offers Let’s Talk, a free and confidential consultation service at a variety of campus locations. Let’s Talk counselors can provide students with insight, solutions and information about additional resources. Â鶹ÒùÔº do not need to be a CAPS client to visit Let’s Talk.

Fitness classes

The CU Rec Center hosts free group fitness classes every Friday evening as part of their Free Friday Power Hour program. Rec Center members can attend group fitness classes from 5-6 p.m. at the Rec Center for free by checking the schedule online.Ìý

Flu shots

It’s not too late to get a flu shot! All CU Boulder undergrad and grad students can receive a flu shot from Medical Services. All they need is their student ID.
