Jeremy Diaz

Jeremy graduated in 2019 with a degree in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. FDuring his time at CU, he built predictive models related to the occurrence, management, and impacts of natural disasters. This involves using satellites, weather records, and Twitter in artificial intelligence models deployed on cloud servers across multiple cores. He finds it really fulfilling to make tools that can help prepare and deal with devastating events, and he hopes to keep doing this. Jeremy is now pursuing his PhD at Penn State’s Geography department, and plans to continue doing similar research. He would love to teach and conduct research at a university, however, he could also see himself at data-intensive applied agencies, such as NOAA or USG.

Jeremy's McNair Scholars mentor was Varad Deshmukh. His faculty advisor was Dr. Jennifer Balch, professor of geology at CU Boulder.
