Announcing the Laura Pollock Endowed Scholarship
The Department of Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology is pleased to announce the establishment of the Laura Pollock Endowed Scholarship, which will award one $4000 scholarship annually to an undergraduate enrolled in MCDB. Preference will be given to students with financial need and to students pursuing a dual-major in the Biochemistry Department. The inaugural scholarship will be awarded in Fall 2022. For students interested in applying, please reference MCDB’s scholarship website.
The fund was established through a generous endowment by Laura Pollock, who graduated from CU Boulder in 1985 with a double major in MCDB and Biochemistry, and retired as the Director of Marketing for a non-profit organization. “Having the knowledge and language of a molecular biologist put me in a great position to become a product manager, a liaison between researchers and production scientists, and later engineers and surgeons,” Ms. Pollock says.
“We are so grateful for the generous contributions from wonderful alumni such as Ms. Pollock, which will help us cultivate future generations of scientific leaders. What a wonderful tribute to the education MCDB has imparted on our students,” said Niswander, who added that she will make a personal contribution to the scholarship fund.
