After a hiatus of more than 6 years, Colorado Research in Linguistics (CRIL) has been relaunched as a peer-reviewed  hosted by CU Scholar, a service of University Libraries. A student-run working papers periodical, CRIL has been published at the University of Colorado Boulder since 1971. Its purpose is to provide an outlet for new findings and original works by both graduate students and faculty in the Department of Linguistics and allied CU departments. Today's CRIL gives students the opportunity to participate on both sides of the academic publishing business (as content providers and content producers) early in their academic careers and joins world-wide efforts to open access to academic content. Benefits of CRIL’s new platform include:
- Secure, long-term storage in CU Libraries’ .
- Visibility in University Libraries  and Google Scholar search results.
- PlumX Metrics (e.g. number of abstract views, full text downloads, etc.).
- Availability of readership distribution and usage reports (per article, volume, and entire journal).
The Department sees the newly relaunched CRIL as an important outlet for the work of emerging scholars and a channel for new research results. It will provide a forum for both CU students and the sociocultural and cognitive-functional commitments that drive linguistic research programs at CU. The Department is sponsoring a CRIL relaunch event on Wednesday October 17, 2:00-3:00pm, in Hellems 285 (linguistics conference room). CRIL organizers will release additional information about the relaunch event, a call for Editorial Board applications, and a call for paper submissions.Â
