CU Linguistics Professor and ICS Fellow Laura Michaelis, together with European collaborators, are organizing a two-day international interdisciplinary workshop on temporal meaning in language, to be held April 7-8, 2017 in the Center for Community on the CU Boulder campus. This workshop is sponsored by ICS as well as a host of other campus units, including the Department of Linguistics and the Vice Chancellor for Research. Members of the ICS community are cordially invited to attend free of charge. If you plan to attend, please fill out this brief attendance . The meeting will feature a range of noted semanticists, computational linguists, historical linguists, typologists and psycholinguists. The purpose of this international workshop is to advance our understanding of how humans conceptualize events through language and how they extend the linguistic resources available for event descriptions to new, non-temporal functions, including affective functions, evidential functions, and discourse-pragmatic functions.
