Paul graduated from Stanford University during ...  . After graduation, he was a postdoctoral fellow at UC Berkeley under the supervision of Martin Head-Gordon. Later, he would accept a faculty position in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Michigan, where he has had a successful career.
