Guidelines

  • All personnel from your lab, department or elsewhere who use the greenhouse must read and follow the Greenhouse Policy. Any assistants or student helpers are also required to read the guidelines and must make an appointment with the greenhouse director or assistant manager before they start working. Greenhouse privileges may be revoked.  

  • ±Ê±ð²õ³Ù¾±³¦¾±»å±ð²õ:ÌýAll plants in the greenhouses are subject to treatment with pesticides unless the researcher places obvious signs to the contrary on the research plants and informs the greenhouse manager.ÌýRespect any signs on greenhouse doors that advise against entry.

  • Clean workspaces: Greenhouse user must clean up after working and to remove all personal belongings. Consoliate and label all materials for your lab.ÌýUnlabeled beakers, markers, graduated cylinders, etc. not in a consolidated, labeled area may become the property of the greenhouse or be disposed.ÌýCommon-use areas, such as the Ramaley Greenhouse, require users work together to maintain a clean working environment.ÌýClogged floor drains can lead to water leaking into offices and labs.

  • Project date changes: Notify the greenhouse director when you start and terminate your project.ÌýSpace utilization is planned in advance, so please notify ASAP if a project is expected to run beyond its estimated duration.

  • Diseases and watering: Do not bring any diseased or arthropod-infested plants into the greenhouse. All research plants must be watered by researchers or their assistants.

  • NSF grant: Research done in the 30th Street greenhouse resulting in a publication should acknowledge NSF Grant BIR-9317890.Ìý

Rates

  • University faculty, staff and students $8 / ft² / year.

  • Minimum amount $100 per billing cycle (two times per year).

Someone who can make decisions about your research organisms in your absence, should the need arise.
Project dates and location
We will do everything we can to accommodate this start date, but there may be cases when the greenhouses are full and more planning is required to find/create space. Submit your application at least one month in advance of your start date, if possible, to help ensure your space is ready in time. Please inform greenhouse staff if your start date changes after submitting this application.
Project details
Large bench at 30th St Greenhouse is 55 sq. ft. Benches in Ramaley are 66 and 78 sq. ft.
Fees and payment
Researchers provide all of their own materials, including soil, pots, special fertilizers, and labels. Usage fees cover greenhouse maintenance and are charged for any use of the greenhouses and for any space occupied (bench, floor, wall, etc.).
