Update for Fall 2020
The U.S. federal government’s Student & Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) this morning issued a and for international students on F-1 visas for the fall 2020 semester.  

CU Boulder and the International Student & Scholar Services (ISSS) office are pleased with the federal government’s decision to hear the concerns of international students and universities. The new SEVP guidance supports international students at CU Boulder and elsewhere, reassuring them that they may start or continue their studies this fall without having to worry about how changes in the mode of instruction will impact their immigration status.

The U.S. Department of State on Twitter has indicated that some embassies and consulates have begun the phased resumption of routine visa services. Each specific will announce the status of their services on their websites.
 
Planning to Return to the U.S. for the Fall 2020 Semester
 
As you are making your plans for fall 2020, please keep in mind the following factors if you are returning from outside of the United States:

if you are arriving from certain countries. (The U.S. Department of State recently announced an automatic national interest exemption for international students on F-1 visas entering the U.S. from the Schengen area, the United Kingdom, and Ireland.);

The university’s recommendation to voluntarily self-quarantine for 14 days before you arrive on campus; and

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s .
 
Please continue to check the ISSS website regularly for updates as the situation may change between now and the start of the fall semester.
 
Late Arrivals
 
Returning international students unable to arrive in the United States before classes begin on Aug. 24, 2020, must communicate with their professors and academic advisors in advance.

Undergraduate international students returning to campus must arrive no later than the census date, Sept. 11, 2020. If you cannot arrive in the U.S. prior to that date, please reach out to your academic advisor(s) so that they may assist you in enrolling in all online courses to continue your studies from outside of the U.S.

Returning graduate students must work with their sponsoring departments to determine the latest date that they may arrive on campus for the fall 2020 semester.
