Two new tenure-track faculty positions are open now
INSTAAR is seeking two new faculty colleagues to deepen our commitment to Earth system science. Both positions are advertised at the Assistant Professor level and involve teaching, research, and service.
The first position seeks applicants who focus on contemporary carbon cycling for a joint hire between INSTAAR and the Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences (ATOC). We are particularly interested in applicants who have expertise in measurement or modeling of radiatively important trace gases, such as carbon dioxide and methane, and whose research contributes to mechanistic understanding of the sources and sinks of these gases. Ideally, the candidate will enhance existing collaborations between CU Boulder and NOAA’s .
The second position seeks applicants with a focus on aquatic ecology and/or aquatic biogeochemistry for a joint hire between INSTAAR and the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology (EBIO). Research topics that will be considered are varied, and include but are not limited to: direct and indirect effects of climate change on biotic communities and biogeochemical cycles through species interactions; understanding anthropogenic changes to biogeochemical cycles in aquatic environments; the causes and consequences of biotic change (e.g., harmful algal blooms) for aquatic ecosystems; or the ecological links between shifting climate and water quantity and quality. Scholars who employ a diverse suite of field and laboratory approaches are preferred. The position provides opportunities to become involved in the site, , and to work on pressing water issues in Colorado Front Range and the broader Colorado River Basin.
CU is an equal opportunity employer with a strong institutional commitment to excellence and diversity. We encourage applications from candidates whose background, expertise, and work in research, teaching, and/or service reflect a strong commitment to diversity and inclusion.
