Professor KentÌýspecializes in modern British history, focusing on gender, culture, imperialism, and politics.Ìý


Professor Kent taught courses on modern British history and British imperialism from a global/comparative perspective. Some of the courses she taught include:Ìý"Introduction to British History since 1660," "Introduction to Global History: Settler Colonialism, 17th century - present," and a seminar called "Revolts Against the British Empire, 1745-1929."ÌýIn 2015, in recognition of exceptional service, teaching and research, she was named a CU Boulder College of Arts & Sciences Professor of Distinction.

Professor Kent received her Ph.D. in comparative history from Brandeis University.ÌýHer publications includeÌýÌý(Routledge, 1987),ÌýÌý(Princeton University Press, 1993),ÌýÌý(Routledge, 1999); an e-text,ÌýThe History of Western Civilization since 1500: An Ecological ApproachÌý(2008);ÌýÌý(2009);ÌýÌý(2011), with Misty Bastian and Marc Matera;ÌýÌý(2012);ÌýÌý(2012);ÌýÌý(2015), with Myles Osborne;ÌýÌý(2016);ÌýÌý(2016); andÌýÌý(2017), with Marc Matera.ÌýHer most recent book, Gender, A World History, will appear in 2020. KentÌýheld a National Endowment for Humanities Fellowship at the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton. She currently Chair ofÌýthe Department of Religious Studies.Ìý
