Abstract
Dr. Bailey will discuss her ongoing work to understandÌýhuman-environment interactions for the intersecting goals ofÌýwell-being of vulnerable populations, equity, and conservation. SheÌýwill share findings from research across Sub-Saharan Africa withÌýsmallholder farming communities living in conservationÌýlandscapes.
She will focus on case studies from Southern and EastÌýAfrica to highlight the importance of social capital and localÌýorganizations to support sustainable rural livelihoods andÌýconservation goals under changing climatic conditions. She willÌýalso briefly describe her work to supporting justice, equity,Ìýdiversity, and inclusion in STEM.
