Dr. Erik Nesse is an assistant research scientist at the Applied Research Laboratory for Intelligence and Security (ARLIS) at the University of Maryland, College Park, supporting research in human and social sciences. His research interests lie primarily in addressing challenges in the human domain at the intersection of computational linguistics, natural language processing, and the humanities. Before joining ARLIS, Dr. Nesse received his MA and PhD from the University of Colorado at Boulder in French and taught at Washington University in Saint Louis while developing projects and tools applying computational approaches to problems in humanities research and second language instruction. Dr. Nesse taught French language, literature, and cinema while at Washington University.
