Enjoy the local premieres of five recent Italian films at the 2024 Italian Film Festival USA of Boulder. All films shown in original language with English subtitles on the campus of the University of Colorado Boulder (CU). Sponsored by the National Italian American Foundation, CU’s Department of French and Italian, the College of Media, Communication and Information, and in collaboration with the University of Colorado. THE CHIMERA
Wednesday, April 3 • 6:00 p.m. • Eaton Humanities 150 (Director, Alice Rohrwacher, Drama, 2023, 134 min.) ♦ Film Sponsor: College of Media, Communication and Information Everyone has their own Chimera, something they try to achieve but never manage to find. For the band of tombaroli, thieves of Etruscan grave relics, the Chimera means the dream of easy wealth. For Arthur, who has a special talent the thieves utilize, the Chimera looks like the woman he loved, Beniamina.

Friday, April 5 • 6:00 p.m. • Visual Arts Complex 1B20 (Director, Sergio Rubini, Drama, 2021, 142 min.) Naples, early 1900s. Eduardo, Peppino and Titina live with their mother, Luisa De Filippo. There is no father, or rather, he is hiding under the guise of “uncle” Eduardo Scarpetta, the most famous actor and playwright of his time. While Scarpetta did not recognize his children, he introduced them to the theatre and passed on his talent to the trio who gave life to a new way of portraying reality.

Antonio takes a job as a drama teacher in a penitentiary and discovers talent in an unlikely company of prisoners. He convinces the prison warden to stage Samuel Beckett's play Waiting for Godot at an actual theatre. Will a triumphal tour begin?

Company management decides to eliminate problem employees and asks him to spy on co-workers who are then assigned to the LAF building. Not understanding the situation, Caterino asks to be placed in the LAF building. But what really goes on there? Based on a true story.
