Though born and raised in Denver, Colorado, my ancestral roots lie in southern Colorado and New Mexico as well as in Guanajuato, Mexico. For undergrad, I attended Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo, California where I earned my BA in Comparative Ethnic Studies in 2021. In addition, I also minored in Global Politics, Political Science, and Indigenous Studies in Natural Resources and the Environment. I am interested in researching how Indigenous communities are affected by systems/structures of oppression (e.g. land theft, ecocide, health epidemics, displacement) and their subsequent strategies of resistance and resilience. Particularly, I want to conduct a cross-cultural study researching the resistance strategies, healing methodologies, and solidarity movements that exist transnationally between Indigenous peoples living under occupation and how these tactics compare to past movements and strategies.
