Biography

Dr. Carrico is an environmental psychologist whose research examines behavioral responses to climate stress with an emphasis on migration, livelihood adaptations, and household risk management. In a second line of work, her research group examines the social and psychological conditions that lead to pro-environmental action and policy support. Dr. Carrico's research has been funded by the US National Science Foundation, the Office of Naval Research, and the City of Boulder. She has led several international efforts to assess the impacts of and responses to environmental change in agricultural communities. This includes the Bangladesh Environment and Migration Survey (BEMS), which collects sociodemographic data about migration, livelihood activities, and climate stress in coastal Bangladesh. Dr. Carrico is also an elected member of the APA’s Board of Scientific Affairs and Deputy Editor at the journal Climatic Change where she oversees a team of editors that handle manuscripts in the behavioral and psychological sciences.Ìý
