Minor in English Literature
Requirements (beginning fall 2021)
- Earn 18 credits in ENGL courses with grades of C- or better, at least 9 or which must be upper division.
- Â鶹ÒùÔº may apply no more than 9 credit hours of transfer work, including no more than 6 upper division credit hours, towards a minor. This is a college residency rule for an 18 credit minor.
- Maintain at least a 2.00 (C) GPA in all CU ENGL courses.
- Â鶹ÒùÔº may not apply creative writing workshops toward the literature minor, with the exception of ENGL1191, Introduction to Creative Writing. ENGL3041 Studies in Fiction and Poetry also may not be applied.
- All literature courses for the minor must be in ENGLISH.
- English majors (Creative Writing or Literature) are not eligible to declare an English minor.
There are no course distribution requirements for a minor in Literature and Cultural Studies. However, for a well-rounded course of study, the English Department recommends a course distribution as follows:
- Literary Analysis
- One course in studies of race, ethnicity, disability, gender and sexuality
- One course in Medieval and Early Modern period or one course in 18th- or 19th-century literature
