The mission of the is to enhance the personal and professional growth of Boulder residents and contribute to the development and sustainability of an engaged community through free access to ideas, information, cultural experiences and educational opportunities.
The Boulder Public Library is central to Boulder’s cultural, intellectual and economic life, deeply rooted in the community and responsive to its diversity. Both physically and virtually, it is an interactive connection to our past, present and future – enabling the sharing of ideas, access to quality information, inspiration from the arts, and dialogue with others in the community or across the globe.
Position
One internship available for 3 credit hours (library public services)
This position offers assistance with program planning, collection development, patron interactions and learning the intricacies of public library work
Responsibilities
- Create and host programs for children, teens or adults.
- Develop readers advisory lists.
- Assist with collection development.
- Communicates and collaborates effectively with team members to smooth workflow.
- Provides reference, reader’s advisory, technology, research databases, and library account assistance to patrons at public service desks.
- Assists with outreach events at elementary schools and other community organizations.
- Assist with program and event set up, staffing and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Self-motivated and able to work independently.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel.
- Experience with customer service.
- Desire to learn about library services.
