Dear CU Engineering students,

Last night, theÌýcampus issued a 14-day quarantineÌýfor all students living in the city of Boulder in response to a significant rise in COVID-19 cases and in partnership withÌý.Ìý

While this can be a source of anxiety and concern, it is a step we had planned for in the event of rising cases and is a temporary measure that may allow us to keep campus open for the remainder of the fall semester. I’m confident that our community can take this next step together to slow the spread of COVID-19, and I’m asking that all of us do what we can to support each other and take care of ourselves.Ìý

I walk around our engineering buildings every day and on campus and am proud of ourÌýstudents who are wearing face coverings, socially distancing and doing their part toÌýProtect our Herd. I applaud you, and ask that youÌýhelp be an ambassador by talking to your friendsÌýwho may not be following the requirements as carefully.

In addition to these essential actions, there are many college resources you can tap into to support your health and well-being and keep your studies on track.Ìý

If you are having trouble identifying study partners in your classes, do not hesitate to ask for recommendations from your instructor, as being in a virtual environment may not lead to instant collaborations.

If you are feeling stress or uncertainty, please reach out to a faculty or staff member and lean on other supporters you have outside the university. We are here for you and committed to your success. Staying active and getting outside (with your face covering) are especially important to keeping a positive attitude during this time.

Together as a community of engineers, we will persist and persevere. I know we can do this.
