Your support of this program strengthens our efforts toward fostering a diverse environment where all engineering students are welcome. The BOLD Center empowers women and minorities to achieve their dream and equip them for success through graduation and beyond. Some of our programs and activities include:
- ASPIRE Summer Bridge, a residential academic program for first-year students before their freshman year. ASPIRE is a great opportunity to observe student life on the CU-Boulder campus and make lifelong friends.
- The Engineering GoldShirt Program, which supports motivated and talented students who need additional math, science, or humanities preparation before diving into the full undergraduate engineering curriculum. For this cohort-oriented, five-year curriculum, students are directly admitted into the college. First-year course work focuses on enhancing student preparation for success in their chosen engineering major. The BOLD team provides mentoring, academic, and social support for all GoldShirt students. Leadership and personal development training are also part of the program’s unique curriculum.
- The Student Success Center, which is open to all students and provides six-days of tutoring weekly, both within the BOLD Center and in specific dorms.
- Support for several diversity-serving, professional engineering societies that provide a variety of functions, including hosting guest speakers, organizing social events, sponsoring student attendance at national conferences, and sponsoring entries in national competitions.
Many more activities! Including: math workgroups, “Mocktail” networking events, etiquette dinners, and “Explore Engineering” days designed for high school girls, minorities, transfer and non-traditional students to explore engineering, with lab experiences and hands-on projects. Admissions, financial aid, and scholarship information is also provided.
Scholarships
Our college is firmly committed to admitting the most highly qualified students who apply and to increasing the diversity of our student body. We achieve these goals through the exceptional generosity of devoted alumni, parents, and friends who provide undergraduate scholarships. We invite you to make a significant and powerful difference in the life of a student by establishing a scholarship in your name or in honor/memory of a friend or family member. Scholarships can be established for the near term or in perpetuity via endowment.
Graduate Fellowships
Awarded to a graduate student, your fellowship gift supports advanced education and research and could even develop a new community-based initiative. To the recipient, your gift will be a tremendous help in devoting full-time focus to graduate study. For the college, fellowships are a wonderful recruitment tool as we work to attract the best and brightest students to our college. Graduate fellowships can be awarded in the area of your interest and may be established for the near term or in perpetuity via endowment.
Faculty Fellowships
Faculty fellowships support outstanding faculty whose teaching and research provide exceptional value to students and to the college. As such, fellowships help recruit and retain high-performing experts and help create a diverse community of scholars. Faculty fellowships can be awarded in the area of your interest and may be established for the near term or in perpetuity via endowment.
Endowed Professorships
Professorships are one of the highest forms of recognition provided by the College. Used to attract, reward and retain distinguished leaders, scholars, and educators of national and international reputation, professorships can propel research, help pay student workers, or create opportunities for collaboration with scholars around the world. Professorships can be awarded in the area of your interest and are typically established in perpetuity via endowment.
Endowed Chairs
An endowed chair is the most coveted faculty position, as it offers supplemental compensation and additional funding for research students and staff or state-of-the-art equipment. An endowed professor can pursue transformational engineering research with less concern for external grant availability.
Because of these advantages, an endowed chair is instrumental in luring and retaining world-class faculty who would otherwise take their talents to another top department. These high-caliber researchers attract the brightest graduate and undergraduate students and spur game-changing advancements in society, enhancing the reputation of their departments, our college, the university, and the engineering profession.
If you would like to make a transformational difference for the life of the college, we invite you to consider working with our advancement team on an endowed chair.
