The Colorado-Wyoming Alliance for Minority Participation (COWYAMP) is a regional partnership functioning within a larger Ìý²µ°ù²¹²Ô³Ù, Ìý(LSAMP)Ìýprogram.ÌýThisÌýconsortium between sixteen institutions of higher education withinÌýColorado and Wyoming worksÌýto diversify the nation's STEM workforce by increasing the number of STEM baccalaureate and graduate degrees awarded to populations historically underrepresented in these disciplines. Ìý

The LSAMP program is named for Ohio Rep.Ìý,Ìýa civil rights champion and powerful voice for political, economic, and social equity in the United States.ÌýThe overall goal of the program is to assist universities and colleges increase the number of underrepresented minorityÌýstudents prepared to succeed in graduate education and contribute to a global and technologically driven workforce.

Underrepresented minorityÌýpopulations are defined by LSAMPÌýas "African Americans, Hispanic Americans, American Indians, Alaska Natives, Native Hawaiians, and Native Pacific Islanders."

How do we use COWYAMPÌýgrant funds at CU Boulder?

Student Support:

At University of ColoradoÌýBoulder, COWYAMP grant funds are used to support underrepresented minority students with research grants, travel, and BOLD student society support. We also have grantÌýfunds thatÌýsupport tutoring in the BOLD Center.Ìý
