Goal

This project examines the learning of "citizen scientists" who participate in human health-based research situated within a museum. In this citizen science program, volunteers can participate in running a series of studies on the genetics of taste (including sweet tastes, sour tastes, bitter tastes), and the general public visiting the museum can participate in the study as enrollees. We are investigating the role that degree of participation has on the accessibility to potential citizen scientists, the learning experience of public participation in science research, and the impact of participation on scientific rigor.
