Graduate Programs
Why CU Boulder?
We offer Colorado's top-ranked graduate programs in education. As a graduate student in the School of Education, you will work closely with a small, collaborative group of nationally renowned faculty and a supportive community dedicated to preparing engaged educators, researchers, policymakers, and community leaders.
Educational Foundations, Policy & Practice
Devote your learning experience to the critical examination of the relationships among education, society, culture, and government, with special emphasis on problems of race, gender, sexual diversity, social class, and multiculturalism.
Equity, Bilingualism & Biliteracy
Explore language and literacy development, school culture, language policies, and the social and political context of schooling for emergent bilingual children and students with disabilities. We are devoted to the critical examination of theory, practice, and policy in: the education of culturally and linguistically diverse students and the education of exceptional children.
Learning Sciences & Human Development
Develop an interdisciplinary understanding of learning, teaching, and youth development in schools and community contexts. Our program is on the leading edge of efforts to understand and address issues of social justice, power, and culture in learning.
Literacy Studies
Develop a greater understanding and expertise in the teaching and learning of literacy. We explore the dynamics of literacy learning from childhood through adulthood, examine literacy practices both in and out of school, and study literacy needs across change.
Research & Evaluation Methodology
This is a place for intellectually curious, academically motivated students who want to learn quantitative research methods for analyzing education policy and practice with the goals of facilitating learning and increasing equity, particularly for marginalized groups.
STEM Education
CU Boulder is a proud national leader in STEM education, and we offer STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) education tracks to support educators who are interested in developing a greater understanding and expertise in the teaching and learning of mathematics and science.
Teacher Learning, Research & Practice
Teacher Learning, Research, and Practice is a doctoral program area focused on how scholars conduct research into how preservice and practicing teachers learn, how university-, school- and community-based teacher educators learn, how we design and facilitate teacher learning experiences, and how we work to transform teaching and teacher education toward equity and justice.
