On Jan. 25, CU Boulder School of Education Doctoral Candidate Joshua J. Prudhomme gave a lecture at the about diversity and equity titled, “Let’s Get to the Bottom of it: Education (In)Opportunity among Historically Marginalized 鶹Ժ of Color.” The forum included roughly 70 Faculty, Program Directors, Staff, and Graduate students in attendance and was sponsored by the  and the 

Prudhomme, a PhD student in Educational Foundations Policy and Practice, spoke about how 鶹Ժ of Color continue to face adversity in their schooling experiences and educational opportunities while education reformists are struggling with the distinction between the “achievement gap” and the “opportunity gap.”  

Prudhomme is Co-Director of the Education Diversity Scholars Program, an instructor of record for first generation students at CU Boulder, and a researcher for the National Education Policy Center. His research is dedicated to contributing to policy and practice that engenders equity and improves access to quality educational opportunities and experiences for historically marginalized youth—in particular, students of color and students in foster care.
