VandnaÌýSinha comes to the School of Education from Montreal, where she was an associate professor in the School of Social Work at McGill University.Ìý She is interested in the ways that social policy impacts communal capacity to care for children and families. Her mixed-methods research is community engaged, responding to and conducted in partnership with social service agencies and community organizations.Ìý For the past 12 years she has been working with Indigenous organizations in Canada.ÌýHer work has focused on: documenting the overrepresentation of Indigenous children in the child welfare system, examining disparities between the services available to Indigenous children and other children in Canada, and supporting the development of capacity to address the needs of Indigenous children.ÌýÌýVandnaÌýearned her PhD and Masters degrees in Human Development and Social Policy from the School of Education and Social Policy at Northwestern University, and undergraduate degrees in economics and community action from the University of Utah.
