gave the the EAGER (Early-concept Grant for Exploratory Research) award to turn the invertebrate chordate Amphioxus into a genetic model system. (NIH) R03 helps support small projects that have the potential to be turned into 5 year NIH R01 proposals - in this case the grant will support the identification of direct transcription regulators of neural border formation in vertebrates. The grants, which will start April 2012, will bring in nearly 400,000 dollars to CU over the next two years. EBIO student Tyler Square and EBIO postdoc Dr. Aaron Garnett helped with preliminary data gathering for the grants.
