We hope that you will be free to join an upcoming special CU WIZARDS 30th Anniversary Celebratory Webinar with special guest Professor John Taylor, the original "Mr. Wizard" and over two dozen CU Wizards from all of the program’s years attending.

This very special webinar will launch the 2020-2021 regular CU Wizards monthly show season which will also begin in September.

Special CU Wizards Webinar Celebration that will take place Saturday morning, September 12th from 9-10 a.m.

This Webinar will include a brief entertaining slide show followed by an informal panel discussion of CU Wizards. We hope this informal chat will inspire and inform kids about the nature of science, scientists, behind the scenes of CU Wizards stories and more! There will also be virtual cake and singing as we honor all of the CU Wizards, a multidisciplinary STEM outreach team, that have inspired thousands of kids over the past 30 years...plus a few more!

Webinar Speakers

David J. Nesbitt (Professor @University of Colorado)
Professor Nesbitt received his B.A. in Chemistry and Physics at Harvard University, and his Ph.D. from the University of Colorado, Boulder. Professor Nesbitt chartered the CU Wizards program in 1990 and has directed the outreach program since that time. The CU Wizards program includes collaboration with over three dozen CU Boulder professors who present engaging monthly public lectures to family audiences during the school year. For decades, the program has reached and inspired thousands of young students.

John Taylor (Professor emeritus @University of Colorado)
Professor Taylor, aka "Mr. Wizard", received his B.A. in mathematics at Cambridge University, and his Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley in 1963. Taylor has written several college-level physics textbooks. His bestselling book is An Introduction to Error Analysis, which has been translated into nine languages. Taylor was designated a Presidential Teaching Scholar in 1991 and received an Emmy Award for his television series Physics 4 Fun (1988–1990). His popular public lecture series inspired the CU Wizards program.

This webinar will be attended by some of the more than forty CU Wizards, Professors from over ten departments, who will will answer children's questions about the magic & science of Wizards shows. CU Wizards is comprised of University of Colorado faculty, staff and students, who dedicate knowledge, talent and time to create and present lively public science outreach shows that are attended each month by hundreds of enthusiastically curious young students and their families.
