Anseth, a Distinguished Professor and Tisone Professor in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering, is being recognized for her 鈥渙utstanding contribution in converging engineering and biology to develop innovative biomaterials that help tissue regeneration and drug delivery,鈥� according to UNESCO.听
She is one of only five women in the world, and the only recipient in North America, to receive the recognition this year.听
