The 336,800-square-foot Jennie Smoly Caruthers Biotechnology Building opened in spring 2012 on CU-Boulder’s east campus, a 10-minute walk from the engineering center. It houses more than 60 faculty members and 500 researchers, students and staff. It is designed to encourage collaboration among scientists and students from chemical and biological engineering, biochemistry and the university’s Biofrontiers Institute. The building earned a LEED Platinum rating for sustainability in design, daily operations and maintenance. Photo by Patrick Campbell
