For the first time, the women鈥檚 golf team hosted its Heather Farr Memorial tournament at CU鈥檚 new home course, the Colorado National Golf Club in Erie. The Buffs finished sixth in the 20-team field, with sophomore聽Emily Talley聽placing eighth individually for her first top-10 showing of the season.
Meanwhile, with the men鈥檚 golf team missing its top three regulars from last season 鈥� honorable mention All-Americans聽Derek Tolan聽(Soc鈥�09) and聽Pat Grady聽(Fin鈥�09) who graduated and聽Luke Symons聽who is redshirting after undergoing hip surgery 鈥� the Buffs are going through a transitional season.
鈥淲e鈥檙e very, very young,鈥� says coach Roy Edwards, who has only two upperclassmen on his active roster, senior聽Justin Bardgett聽and junior聽Michael Imperato.
CU lost to Colorado State 6-4 in the inaugural year of the State of Colorado Cup, a season-opening Ryder Cup-style competition.
Bardgett recorded the best finish of his career, fifth place, at the Fighting Irish Gridiron Classic in early October. Sophomore聽Kevin Kring聽tied a school record for most strokes under par for a round (an 8-under-par 64) en route to a 13th-place finish in the Falcon Invitational.
