Gabriel is a former Westminster High School teacher and current graduate student at the University of Colorado Boulder. His graduate studies focus on Media and Public Engagement with an emphasis on the intersection between the labor movement and politics. His goals are to help workers increase their collective bargaining power and harness it to make positive and lasting change in Colorado.
As a former high school teacher, he has always been passionate about improving conditions for educators and students. He found that difficult to do on top of the responsibilities of running a classroom, so heÌýturned to the Media Studies department at the University of Colorado to expand his knowledge around the modern labor movement and its relationship with the public. The MAPE program allowsÌýhim to gain firsthand experience using media tools to help education associations form partnerships and advocate within their communities. He plans to use the skills and knowledge gained in the program and his experience working with education associations to continue to advocate for educators and students across Colorado in the future.Ìý
Outside of graduate school, heÌýenjoys hiking, camping, off-roading, and getting breakfast at Breadwinners Café in Olde Town Arvada.
