Mollie McCoyÌý(She/Her)Ìýwas born and raised in Longmont, CO, and spent two years living in the great state of Montana after graduating from high school in 2018. During her time in Montana, she began her studies, but after suffering a stroke in 2019 and with COVID-19 hitting in 2020, she decided to move back to Colorado to continue her education at Metropolitan State University of Denver. There, she studied Journalism with a minor in Philosophy. After graduating Cum Laude in the fall of 2022, she spent a year doing freelance work and political outreach, working as a substitute teacher in Denver Public Schools and Boulder Valley School District with students from K-12.Ìý
In addition to teaching, Mollie worked as a freelance film creative, building her production credentials, and served as a communications coordinator for several organizations. That same year, she managed a political campaign that won 14,388 votes out of 30,379 as the only staff member in a completely grassroots-funded organization. Through these experiences, she developed a strong passion for communication and the way we interact with the world around us, leading her to pursue this master's program.
After completing her master’s degree, Mollie hopes to use her degree to improve design and user experience for brands, organizations, and applications focused on mental health, healthcare, and education. Her work in the education sphere, along with her personal experiences with healthcare, has shown her the great need for better communication design around social-emotional systems, from curriculum to healthcare applications and telehealth.
