Dawn Zinser (D.Z.) Church (Jour) retired from a Fortune 500 company as the director of proposals. She is the author of eight mystery thrillers, including the four-part Vietnam-era “Cooper Quartet” saga and her new “Wanee Mystery” series, beginning with Unbecoming a Lady.

Jan Tuchman (Jour; MJour’75) joined Engineering News-Record, a publication that covers the worldwide construction industry, in 1976 and has been editor-in- chief since 2001. She also serves on the board of Bridges to Prosperity, a Denver-based nonprofit that works to alleviate the poverty caused by rural isolation by building pedestrian bridges in developing countries. She lives with her husband, Joseph Rosta, in Brooklyn, New York.

Marcus Wilson (Jour) published his third book, Columbus, Slave Trader, in April. The historically accurate novel tells the story of how Columbus shipped 500 Native Americans to a slave market. His previous books are Hero Street U.S.A. and Kidnapped by Columbus.

Marc Wilson (Jour), chairman emeritus of TownNews, the digital services company he co-founded in 1989, was elected president of the Inland Press Foundation in 2020. During his career, he worked as a journalist for three daily newspapers, five bureaus of The Associated Press, and was editor/publisher of the Bigfork Eagle in Kalispell, Montana, for 14 years. He is author of two published books, and he and his wife, Virginia (Jour’69), live in Loveland.

John Poimiroo (MJour) was named Writer of the Year by the Outdoor Writers Association of California. He was recognized for his many achievements, including four first-place awards: Best Outdoor Feature Photograph, Best Outdoor Photographic Series, Best Outdoor Video and Best Outdoor Internet Site.

Ken Jones (Jour) is a tax attorney for Eversheds Sutherland in the firm’s Washington, D.C., office. Previously he was a partner with a Big Four accounting firm, beginning in its D.C.-based national tax office before becoming a national partner in charge of the firm’s tax controversy services practice.

Susan Dellinger (PhDComm) published a book titled Communicating Beyond Our Differences in 1996. The book has now been translated into eight languages, including Arabic, Japanese and Russian. In 2018, Susan created a communication training company called Psycho-Geometrics LLC, which now has 44 licensed trainers in 10 countries worldwide.

Steve Sander (Jour) is president of Sander Marketing, a Denver-based firm specializing in sports, tourism and health/wellness marketing. Sander Marketing recently produced the Nuggets’ championship parade, which attracted more than 750,000 fans. He started his career as an award-winning photographer at the Boulder Daily Camera and now serves on the boards of Visit Denver, Denver Sports Commission, Japan America Society of Colorado and Denver Fire Department Foundation.

Jack Brown (MComm) is an estates director with Rodeo Realty in Beverly Hills, California. He served in the U.S. Navy in Vietnam before working in public relations at Denver’s Office of Economic Opportunity. He has represented real estate and entertainment clients in Los Angeles and Malibu for over 30 years. He and his wife, Kathleen, have homes in Los Angeles and Indian Wells, and their three daughters and one grandson live in Napa.

William Hessin (Comm) has worked for decades in the Denver broadcast community, including at radio stations such as KIMN, KOA, KPPL and KTLK. He’s done voice-over work for local television stations and national clients such as Frontier Airlines, Starz!, Encore, the NHL and the Department of Defense. A member of Broadcast Pioneers of Colorado, William lives in Englewood, Colorado, with his wife, Polly. They have two daughters and four grandchildren.

John Leach (Jour; MJour’79) is the recipient of CU Boulder’s 2018 Alumni Recognition Award. He earned the honor for his invaluable professional insights throughout journalism’s transition at the university, and for being a crucial figure during CMCI’s creation. John is the former managing editor of The Arizona Republic. He’s taught journalism as a visiting professor at Cal Poly State University in San Luis Obispo, California, and as a faculty associate at Arizona State University’s Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication in Phoenix. After many years living in Arizona, John recently moved to Longmont, Colorado, where he lives with his wife, Deborah Ross (Jour’79). He is a member of CMCI’s Department of Journalism Advisory Board and supports the college through the John F. Leach Endowed Scholarship, which he established to benefit journalism students, and the Leach Scholarship Fund.

After working for more than 35 years as sports director at WLNE ABC 6 in Providence, Rhode Island,ĚýKen BellĚý(Comm)Ěýis retiring. Ken covered some of the most memorable moments in New England sports history, including the Celtics’ championships of the 1980s, the Red Sox winning the World Series and numerous Patriots Super Bowl victories. A Colorado native, he loves to spend time outside running and hiking.

John Estabrook (Advert) has lived and worked in Grand Rapids, Michigan, for 48 years, first as a reporter, and later in sales, for Channel 8/WOOD TV. He then worked for the local Pella window distributor, which he eventually bought and has owned for nearly 30 years.

Jay MacDonald (Jour) is a former award-winning United Press International wire service reporter who checked out of mainstream news and moved to Key West, Florida, with his wife, Kate, to pursue fiction. Since 2000, he has served as an online freelance feature writer and author interviewer, as well as the Sunday books editor for the Fort Myers daily newspaper News-Press. That role spawned his nonfiction debut, Crazy From the Heat: Fun in the Sun With 35 Florida Authors.
