Badass women defying the steryotypes over 50 Documentary
Ann Kasky is looking to create a Documentary about women over 50 defying stereotypes. This is all from her:
LOOKING FOR:
I will need a crew to help me with some of the script writing, videography, editing, and any other duties
DESCRIPTION:
I want to create a documentary that defies the sterotypes of women over 50. Women are learning, rediscovering who they are, healing, overcoming obstacles and are successful. My goal is to interview women from different backgrounds and socioeconomic groups. I want to interview rockstar/wongwriter/author, Melissa Etheridge. Melissa has been singing and began her care 35 or 36 years ago. She is married to her wife Linda who has been a producer. Melissa is a mother of 4 children and her son died in 2020 to an opiod addiction. Melissa formed the Etheridge Foundation immediately, began singing during COVID to her at home audiences. She has written to memoirs, and produced a documentary called Unbroken. Five women prisoners wrote to her about their life. Melissa met with them, listened to them, and wrote a song and concert for them. The song is Burning Woman. Melissa Etheridge is nominated for her documentary and will be attending this function at the Beverly Hills Hilton next week.
Melissa Etheridge's Lighting designer, Susan Rose, is over 50 working in a male dominated field. Susan creates all the beautiful lighting for Melissa Etheridge. Susan is also a country music singer, and motivational speaker. Susan is youthful and vibrant, and has expressed interest in being interviewed.
My former Stephens Minister Sandee, is so special. She' considers herself average, but she is special to me. During 2020, her husband left , and Sandee was left alone with a mortgage, and house repairs. At the same time , she began volunteer training to walk beside someone else who is hurting. Sandee and I met and I knew I could talk to her. All through my mom's illness and passing, Sandee took my phone calls, met with me and went above and beyond. On my birthday in 2020, we met at a natural food store, she bought me soup, and a boquet of flowers. It was her caring nature that helped me so much. She came to my mom's funeral, when I graduated from Regis University, as a working adult Sandee attended, gave me gifts and has been so kind. Sandee is a pre-school teacher at a religious school in Loveland Colorado. She earns about $17 dollars an hour. She is working a second job, because her challenge is not having enough money put away for her retirement. She always come at challenges with resillance, and a healthy attitude. She once told me that she imagines herself as her own hero. Sandee told me to go for my dreams and never stop!
My Cousin Karen, she lives in the Chicago area. She was a probation officer until 56 years old.She had mandatory retirement. She went back to school to earn another Masters Degree, in counseling. She now is a counselor, and loves life, and wants to continue counseling, regardless how how old she becomes. She did her internship with students who were young than her. However, Karen does not look 58 years old, but she feels comfortable in her own skin. She believes you have to have good friends to laugh with, and lov eyour life. She wears stylish jeans, and her smile lets us all know, she is comfortable with who she is. She loves positive quotes: "You are never too old for a new beginning." (Joyce Myers.)
These are just a few of my ideas- I 'm passionate about this, and wanted to share this with you!
TIMELINE:
I would like to begin by the end of the year; however, I can begin in 2025. I know that documentaries can take awhile. I want the students to be paid through grants. Therefore, I would like to see the breakdown of how much a crew would cost. This is important because grant applications and other companies want to see how the funds will be spent. I have found 100 companies owned by women who I want to write to for grants.

ADDITIONAL INFO:
I really have met a couple of awesome students. Both students I have taled to are so enghusiastic, caring, encouraging and compassionate. Please, give me a chance, and work with me. I believe we can make this happen. It is a goal I have had in my heart for a long time. We can talk about anything you have questions about. Please, don't hesitate to ask me, or talk to me about anything with this documentary before you make a decision. I am excited, I already have Susan Rose to interview, and I know I will find beautiful women to interview. Where we interview will depend on the other particpants. I have already had someone I thought was a friend discourage me, telling me it could not happen. Let's prove this person wrong. Just a little bit of my background: I graduated as a working adult student from Regis University 3 years ago. It was no easy for me, and I had many obstacles. I was awarded the Perserverance Award, and I am now a young 50 year old women. I am still that 22 year old woman though! I love working with college student and recent grads. I always learn something, and I love your passion for projects. Thank you for taking time. Let s meet over coffee and brainstorm and or you can ask me questions!
