I am interested in factors outside of the course curriculum that help students succeed in chemistry. In addition to utilizing active learning techniques in the classroom, I host workshops on strategies for success in general chemistry and peer-based mentoring to help retain students in the major. My current work focuses on the effect of academic coaching in the classroom to study the effect of student success in the course as well as student perception of learning and belonging.
