Ruth received an M.S. in Molecular Biology from Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos and a B.S. in Biology from Universidad Nacional Agraria La Molina in Peru. She听entered IQ Biology through the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. Ruth听completed her first lab rotation in Steven Schmidt's lab in the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. She听completed her second lab rotation in Boswell Wing's lab in the Department of Geological Sciences. Ruth completed her third lab rotation in Alexis Templeton's lab in the听Department of Geological Sciences. For her听team rotation, Ruth听worked with three other IQ students in听Luke Evans' (Ecology and Evolutionary Biology), Maggie Stanislawski's (Anschutz Medical Campus), and Chris Gignoux's (Anschutz Medical Campus)听labs. In May 2022, Ruth joined the Schmidt lab.
