The Center of the American West (CAW) sponsors a wide range of acacdemic opportunities, inviting students to venture beyond classrooms and textbooks and to interact with leading scholars, writers, public servants, and faculty members.
For undergraduate students, the CAW offers a Certificate in Western American Studies among a host of additional scholarship and professional opportunities (available on the menu list to the right). For graduate students, head on over to our “Projects and Publications” page to explore research assistant and mentorship opportunities.
Simply transplanting myself from New England to the Rockies was only geographical. The Center soon became my compass, helping me navigate the complexities and dynamics of people and places in the West. I was situated here inColorado, butlacked a local intimacy I was looking for. The Center gave me answers when I needed them and pointed me in the right direction when it was better for me to find that answer on my own.
