The Large Course Initiative is well on its way! As a part of this process, teams are working on developing their ecosystems, assessing their strengths, resources, and opportunities, and focusing on improving student success factors indicated through university-collected data. Additionally, individual teams will determine the changes and strategies that are most beneficial and feasible to implement within their courses related to their overall goals for improved student success. Utilizing Universal Design principles in course design, academic technology tools, inclusive teaching, and collecting feedback throughout the course are just some of the best practices that can lead to effective changes and improved student success in large courses.听

A (CoP) is a group of people who share a common concern or interest and come together to fulfill both individual and group goals. During the academic year, the Inclusive Community of Practice (ICoP) hosted by the Center for Teaching & Learning provides a monthly meeting space to share best practices and create new knowledge on topics related to diversity, inclusion, equity, social justice, and human interaction.听

Next meeting: October 26 from Noon to 1pm. Dr. June Gruber will be presenting on 鈥淢ental Health and Optimizing Self-Care.鈥� Meetings are hybrid, but we encourage in person participation (CASE E390 or the CTL). The Inclusive Instructors Teach-In Series are educational workshops that introduce teaching & learning concepts, why they matter to today's college students, and how they can be applied to the classroom. Major concepts introduced in this series center on DEI, social justice, power, education for liberation, and so on. The series is designed for teaching faculty across all levels at the institution and all are encouraged to attend.

Next meeting: October 25 from 1 to 2pm. Dr. Kalpana Gupta will be presenting "Creating Authentic Dialogues: Mindfully Navigating Conversations." This meeting is in-person only (CASE E390 or the CTL).
