2022-2023 CAAAS Dissertation Completion Fellow
Shawn Trenell O’Neal has been awarded the 2022-2023 Center for African & African American Studies (CAAAS) Dissertation Completion Fellowship. Shawn is a fifth-year Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Ethnic Studies at the University of Colorado Boulder, in addition to a renowned DJ and audio producer. His dissertation is titled "Audio Intersectionality: Self-Identification Within the Processes of Interdisciplinary Explorations in Sound, Music, and Performance." His research includes African American studies, Africana studies, musicology, ethnomusicology, queer and trans of color critique, and women of color feminisms. He published a book chapter in The Routledge Handbook of Pan-Africanism (2020).
