Benson Center for the Study of Western Civilization at University of Colorado, Boulder as Sabbatical Fellow for Fall 2023 and as the Visiting Scholar in Conservative Thought and Policy for Spring 2024.</p> <p>Professor Warmke has published widely in moral, social, and political philosophy, including important essays on public discourse, forgiveness, free will and moral responsibility, virtue ethics, social morality, and conservatism. He is author of two books, Grandstanding: The Use and Abuse of Moral Talk (2020) and Why It's OK to Mind Your Own Business (2023). He has written for CNN and MarketWatch, and his work has been featured by The Atlantic, New York Times Magazine, HuffPost, Scientific American, Forbes, Vox, Commentary Magazine, and The Guardian. During his year at the Benson Center, he will be writing a book on conservative political philosophy.</p> <p>Professor Warmke will offer an undergraduate course on "Liberalism, Socialism, and Conservatism" and a graduate seminar on "Virtue Ethics and the Political Virtues" as well as host public events for students, faculty, staff, and the broader CU community.</p> <p>"I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to spend the year learning and teaching at CU. Applications are being accepted now on <a href="https://app.joinhandshake.com/stu/jobs/8264437" rel="nofollow">Handshake</a>.</p> <p>The goal of the Benson Center internship is to engage undergraduate students in meaningful projects that will&nbsp;allow students to develop their resumes with concrete skills and experiences.&nbsp;The Center is unlike other academic units on campus in that we&nbsp;host a variety of events each semester, produce the Free Mind podcast,&nbsp;work closely with campus leadership, and recruit&nbsp;visiting scholars from a variety of backgrounds and professional experience.&nbsp;</p> <p>鶹Ժ can work with the Benson Center team on a mix of the following, depending on need and interest: podcast management;&nbsp;web and social media content, including&nbsp;updates&nbsp;and analytics;&nbsp;event planning skills such as managing logistics, creating marketing materials and identifying target audiences, arranging travel for speakers, and live event support (including videography/photography); finance and accounting support such as invoice processing and&nbsp;expense reconciliation; general office support such as&nbsp;managing visitors and event participants, and other administrative duties as needed. Special project support may be assigned, depending on projects that can come up during the academic year.</p> <p>The successful candidate has a working knowledge of MS Office suite, Google Drive and other basic office software. Candidates should be diligent, work well independently, be&nbsp;professional and positive, and have good customer service skills.&nbsp;A&nbsp;demonstrated interest in Western Civilization and/or current affairs should be emphasized in the application, as contributing to the Center's mission is critical to the internship. This can include the student's declared major/minor or previous work, intern, or volunteer experience.&nbsp;Experience in Adobe Audition and Premier Pro desirable but not required. Work will be on campus, especially during the training period.
