Opportunity for Emerging Translators: 2025 ALTA Emerging Translator Mentorship Program

I'm writing from the American Literary Translators Association (ALTA) to send a friendly notice that might be of interest to your communities about the 2025 ALTA Emerging Translator Mentorship Program, which is  until November 30 (that's 1 month from today)! If you would be willing to share this announcement with your communities, we would be most grateful.

The  is designed to establish and facilitate a close working relationship between an experienced translator and an emerging translator on a project selected by the emerging translator. The mentorship duration is one year. The emerging translator is expected to choose a project that can be completed in that time, and they will only be advised on that particular project. The program is offered at no cost to the emerging translator, and applicants needn't be based in the US to apply for the program.

The following 18 mentorships are available in 2025:

§&²Ô²ú²õ±è; Kannada, with mentor Srinath Perur

§&²Ô²ú²õ±è; Kashmiri, with mentor Kalpana Raina

§&²Ô²ú²õ±è; Korean poetry, with mentor Jack Jung

§&²Ô²ú²õ±è; Korean prose, with mentor Janet Hong

§&²Ô²ú²õ±è; Persian, with mentor poupeh missaghi

§&²Ô²ú²õ±è; Polish, with mentor Bill Johnston

§&²Ô²ú²õ±è; Premodern, Classical, or Early Modern Literature from a South Asian language, with mentor Arshia Sattar

§&²Ô²ú²õ±è; Swedish, with mentor Rachel Willson-Broyles

§&²Ô²ú²õ±è; Literature from Taiwan, with mentor Lin King

§&²Ô²ú²õ±è; Telugu, with mentor Afsar Mohammad

§&²Ô²ú²õ±è; Urdu, with mentor Sana R. Chaudhry
