Why USINDO Summer Studies Program?

For the past 25 years, the USINDO Summer Studies Program has earned an enviable reputation for preparing future leaders in U.S.-Indonesia engagement. USINDO Summer Studies is a specially designed program that offers language and cultural immersion as well as professional development opportunities. We have a network of 250 alumni, many of whom have returned to Indonesia in a professional and personal capacity or gone on to careers involving Indonesia.
The USINDO Summer Studies program includes:
1. Language
Attend 120 hours of Bahasa Indonesia class over a ten-week Ìýperiod.

2. Cultural Workshops
Immerse yourself in Indonesian culture and deepen your appreciation Ìýof the arts, dress and other activities.

3. Experiential Classrooms
Gain a genuine appreciation of Indonesia’s most pressing challenges by exploring a range of contemporary issues outside of the classroom.

4. Field Trips
Explore various natural and historical sites in and around Yogyakarta – the seat of classical Javanese culture in Indonesia.
5. Cross-Cultural Understanding
Engage in interactive discussions Ìýand navigate the cultural differences Ìýand commonalities.Ìý

Practice the Indonesian lifestyle and day-to-day activities by living with host families and connecting to the surrounding community.
