The Korea Society is pleased to announce the launch of our newÌýUndergraduate Korea Study Abroad Travel Grant. It is a ‘topping off’ grant for those who can benefit from support to help defray travel costs. It is awarded directly to the student.Ìý

Given the Society’s commitment to promote a greater awareness, understanding and cooperation between the people of the U.S. and Korea, this travel grant has been created to ensure a wide-range of undergraduate students have opportunities to study and live in Korea. However, for some the high cost of travel to and from Korea can present a burden.Ìý Funding for travel within the country can be nonexistent.Ìý Therefore this travel ‘topping off’ grant has been developed to defray travel expenses for students who would normally struggle financially to realize the life-changing experience of studying abroad, the soft-skill development which future employers find so attractive, and, most importantly, the opportunity to cultivate an in-person understanding of Korea, a country of strategic importance to the U.S.Ìý

We are working within a very tight timeframe for theÌýfall 2023 grant.ÌýThe application is currently open with aÌýdeadline for applying on August 20, 2023. Later this fall we will launch a second competition for students planning to study abroad in Korea in 2024.Ìý

This grant is made possible through the generous support of the CKD Kochon Foundation.Ìý
