On October 7, the University of Colorado was host to Dr. Sara Shneiderman, associate professor of anthropology at the University of British Columbia. While on campus Dr. Shneiderman met with students in the graduate seminar "Anthropology of Tibet and the Himalayas," and gave a public lecture titled "Restructuring Life: Citizenship, Territory, and Religiosity in Nepal's State of Transformation." Speaking to a packed house in Hale 230, Dr. Shneiderman presented her ongoing research on cultural and political life in Nepal following the civil war which ended in 2006, and the earthquakes of April and May 2015. She argued that understandings of citizenship and political participation are changing in post-war, post-disaster Nepal. Her talk was followed by a lively Q and A session, and then a Nepali dinner at Sherpa's. Dr. Shneiderman's visit to campus was co-sponsored by the Department of Anthropology and Tibet Himalaya Initiative.

Thank you, CAS, for being the main sponsor!
